Effectiveness of an e-Book on Bone Health as Educational Material for Adolescents: Single-Group Experimental Study

Effectiveness of an e-Book on Bone Health as Educational Material for Adolescents: Single-Group Experimental Study

Lifestyle factors, such as dietary calcium intake, vitamin D status, and weight-bearing exercise, significantly influence bone health. Calcium plays a crucial role in maximizing bone density and strength during growth and development [6]. Adequate calcium intake is important for achieving optimal peak bone mass and promoting bone health, whereas insufficient intake increases the risk of low BMD [16].

Effect of Menstrual Cycle and Hormonal Contraception on Musculoskeletal Health and Performance: Protocol for a Prospective Cohort Design and Cross-Sectional Comparison

Bone resorption is the process by which osteoclasts break down bone tissue, releasing calcium and other minerals into the circulatory system. Biochemical markers of bone resorption and formation reflect metabolic processes in bone, but they do not provide quantitative data on calcium status. A total of 6 naturally occurring calcium isotopes exist (40 Ca, 42 Ca, 43 Ca, 44 Ca, 46 Ca, and 48 Ca).

Association Between VDR and CYP24A1 Polymorphisms, Atopic Dermatitis, and Biochemical Lipid and Vitamin D Profiles in Spanish Population: Case-Control Study

Calcium (mg/d L), total cholesterol (mg/d L), high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol (mg/d L), triglycerides (mg/d L), and phosphorus (mg/d L) serum concentrations were measured by spectrophotometric methods, and 25(OH)D (ng/m L), immunoglobulin E (UI/L), and parathyroid hormone (pg/m L) by immunochemiluminescence using an automated AU5400 and Uni Cel Dx I 800 (Beckman Coulter), respectively.

Dietary Intake Nutritional Status and Lifestyle of Adolescent Vegetarian and Nonvegetarian Girls in New Zealand (The SuNDiAL Project): Protocol for a Clustered, Cross-Sectional Survey

Dietary Intake Nutritional Status and Lifestyle of Adolescent Vegetarian and Nonvegetarian Girls in New Zealand (The SuNDiAL Project): Protocol for a Clustered, Cross-Sectional Survey

In general, vegetarian diets provide large amounts of phytate, dietary fiber, folate, vitamins C and E, and magnesium, but without planning, they may have low protein, vitamins D and B12, iron, zinc, and calcium (particularly among vegans who do not consume animal products of any kind) [8,9].

Improving Calcium Knowledge and Intake in Young Adults Via Social Media and Text Messages: Randomized Controlled Trial

Improving Calcium Knowledge and Intake in Young Adults Via Social Media and Text Messages: Randomized Controlled Trial

Their level of motivation to improve calcium intake was low because a lack of knowledge meant more calcium seemed unnecessary, and financial factors influenced the opportunity to consume calcium-rich foods, wherein milk was seen as low cost, but sources such as nuts and fish were seen as high cost [17].
