For instance, Craving to Quit, a module-based mindfulness smartphone app, showed promise, although there were no significant differences between craving to quit and the comparison condition (inactive attention control) on biochemically-verified abstinence at 6 months (9.8% vs 12.1%) [15].

An underlying factor of the alcohol treatment options available is the focus on reducing alcohol consumption and maintaining abstinence by increasing the individual's motivation to achieve this [9-11].
Common tools used by staff to establish a typical drinking pattern include timeline follow back (TLFB) [12] or breathalyzer measurements. However, these methods have limitations.

Neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS), also referred to as neonatal opioid withdrawal syndrome, can be subdivided into primary NAS due to prenatal opioid abuse by (or treatment of) the mother, and iatrogenic NAS (i NAS) when neonates are treated with opioids. Primary NAS may develop in more than 90% of infants after intrauterine opiate exposure [2].

In the postintervention phase, data were collected after the quitting ceremony, assessing the use of cessation aids, abstinence, withdrawal symptoms, and cravings. Longitudinal data were gathered at day 7 and day 30 to track abstinence and withdrawal symptoms. Participants also shared feedback on the Quit Sure program and their willingness to use it again.
The primary outcome was to detect smoking cessation; the postprogram completion follow-up survey assessed 7-day and 30-day abstinence.

During the quit attempt (days 7-8), incentives were provided to promote abstinence for both groups (US $40 possible). Abstinence was verified for the r CO group by remote breath CO submissions through the app (2 submissions each day on days 7 and 8 to confirm abstinence). For the w CO group, abstinence was verified by a single in-person CO sample collected at the day 9 visit. Abstinence was defined as ≤6 parts per million (ppm) or a CO value with a 75% reduction from baseline smoking CO averages.

Thus, the abstinence process in web-based anonymous self-help group meetings can be clarified through machine-learned classification of utterances. However, the web-based abstinence process is unclear [5] despite its usefulness in terms of ease-of-use [9] and few damages caused by prejudice [10]. To clarify the abstinence process, a change talk model for abstinence was developed in this study based on the utterances of anonymous web-based gamblers through the use of a machine-learned classifier.
