Based on Corbin and Strauss’s analysis, Donovan-Kicken and colleagues [15] summarized a number of dimensions that characterize cancer management behaviors as work, including completing tasks and assigning responsibility for completion; exerting effort, allocating resources, coordinating duties; and dividing up labor throughout the trajectory. Further, Donovan-Kicken and colleagues identified communication work as an important fourth line of work to consider in understanding illness trajectories.
