Exploring the Dilemma of AI Use in Medical Research and Knowledge Synthesis: A Perspective on Deep Research Tools

Exploring the Dilemma of AI Use in Medical Research and Knowledge Synthesis: A Perspective on Deep Research Tools

“Overall, I think Deep Research does produce a good first draft that would probably be readily accepted in a mid-tier journal, but which could be significantly improved with editing and revisions. Perhaps the outputs might improve with better prompts or guidance (eg providing refined outlines and a reference list).”

The Effect of Maternal Choline Intake on Offspring Cognition in Adolescence: Protocol for a 14-year Follow-Up of a Randomized Controlled Feeding Trial

The Effect of Maternal Choline Intake on Offspring Cognition in Adolescence: Protocol for a 14-year Follow-Up of a Randomized Controlled Feeding Trial

One such study evaluated the effect of providing pregnant women with either 900 mg/day of a choline supplement or a placebo from week 17 of gestation through birth and found a beneficial effect of the choline supplement on 5-month-old infants’ auditory attentional gating [17].

Patterns of Engagement With the mHealth Component of a Sexual and Reproductive Health Risk Reduction Intervention for Young People With Depression: Latent Trajectory Analysis

We undertook a secondary analysis of anonymized data collected from June 2021 to September 2023 in a randomized controlled trial of MARSSI versus a breast health podcast (Clinical Trials.gov NCT04798248).

Data Dashboard Acceptability, Use, and Perceived Effectiveness in Disseminating Local Overdose Data and Resources in a Rural New York State County: A Cross-Sectional Study

Data Dashboard Acceptability, Use, and Perceived Effectiveness in Disseminating Local Overdose Data and Resources in a Rural New York State County: A Cross-Sectional Study

Following the launch of the dashboard, we conducted a cross-sectional study targeting adults older than 18 years who lived or worked in Cayuga County using a 20-question online Qualtrics survey [20]. We conducted 2 phases of participant recruitment, resulting in a convenience sample. During the initial recruitment phase, spanning from May to August 2023, participants were offered a US $10 Amazon gift card as an incentive.

A Resource-Efficient, High-Dose, Gamified Neurorehabilitation Program for Chronic Stroke at Home: Retrospective Real-World Analysis

A Resource-Efficient, High-Dose, Gamified Neurorehabilitation Program for Chronic Stroke at Home: Retrospective Real-World Analysis

All patients were assigned to a single-arm treatment group involving a high-dose, home-based training program (Figure 1 A–B). For the purposes of this work, we consider a high-dose program to be one that achieves a total dosage above 20 hours scheduled time, as these doses are generally considered to deliver outcomes above the minimum clinically important difference [2,5,29]. Overall, the program goal was to deliver 36 hours of training during the program.

Use of a Wearable Self-Tracking Instrument by Refugees With Complex Posttraumatic Stress Disorder: A Qualitative Study of Psychotherapeutic Mediation and Engagement

Use of a Wearable Self-Tracking Instrument by Refugees With Complex Posttraumatic Stress Disorder: A Qualitative Study of Psychotherapeutic Mediation and Engagement

Frequently, a single press represented a distressing phenomenon, while a double press corresponded to having completed a therapeutic intervention at home as agreed upon in therapy. Upon returning to the therapy session, the collected data were analyzed collaboratively using a web-based data visualization tool as illustrated in Figure 3.

Language Models for Multilabel Document Classification of Surgical Concepts in Exploratory Laparotomy Operative Notes: Algorithm Development Study

Language Models for Multilabel Document Classification of Surgical Concepts in Exploratory Laparotomy Operative Notes: Algorithm Development Study

For this reason, we frame our problem in terms of a multilabel document classification task [6] where operative notes take on a series of binary labels as to whether or not a certain intraoperative finding (eg, bleeding and contamination) or technique (eg, bowel resection, hand-sewn anastomosis, and style of fascial closure) occurred during the case.

Association Between COVID-19 During Pregnancy and Preterm Birth by Trimester of Infection: Retrospective Cohort Study Using Large-Scale Social Media Data

Association Between COVID-19 During Pregnancy and Preterm Birth by Trimester of Infection: Retrospective Cohort Study Using Large-Scale Social Media Data

For tweets that did not indicate the users’ birthday, we used a heuristic of rounding to the next year if the age was reported more than 6 months apart from the due date. For example, the user in Table 1 was aged 27 years on February 20, 2022, which was less than 6 months away from a due date of May 20, 2022, so we estimated a maternal age of 27.
