Moderators’ Experiences of the Safety and Effectiveness of Patient Engagement in an Asthma Online Health Community: Exploratory Qualitative Interview Study

Moderators’ Experiences of the Safety and Effectiveness of Patient Engagement in an Asthma Online Health Community: Exploratory Qualitative Interview Study

Superusers—a select minority group of highly active OHC users found to be essential to the successful spread of self-management information and support and in keeping the forum cohesive over time—act, at times, as moderators of OHC discussions [22]. However, appointed moderators are distinct from superusers. Research has shown that compassionate moderators provide important support for patient engagement in OHCs.

Moderators of the Effects of a Digital Parenting Intervention on Child Conduct and Emotional Problems Implemented During the COVID-19 Pandemic: Results From a Secondary Analysis of Data From the Supporting Parents and Kids Through Lockdown Experiences (SPARKLE) Randomized Controlled Trial

The literature describes such factors as intervention moderators, as they interact with the intervention and improve outcomes for some over others [16,17]. Exploring these moderators could improve understanding of which interventions are beneficial for whom, enabling clinicians to tailor recommendations to the most effective interventions [17,18].

Effectiveness and Moderators of an Internet-Based Mobile-Supported Stress Management Intervention as a Universal Prevention Approach: Randomized Controlled Trial

Effectiveness and Moderators of an Internet-Based Mobile-Supported Stress Management Intervention as a Universal Prevention Approach: Randomized Controlled Trial

Even though internet-based intervention research is rapidly growing, empirical data on the moderators of internet-based mobile-supported interventions [33-39] and, in particular, internet occupational health interventions are scarce [34]. Furthermore, randomized controlled trials (RCTs) are usually powered to detect effects on the primary outcome and hence, underpowered to reliably test moderator hypotheses [40].

Moderators of the Effect of a Self-directed Digitally Delivered Exercise Program for People With Knee Osteoarthritis: Exploratory Analysis of a Randomized Controlled Trial

Moderators of the Effect of a Self-directed Digitally Delivered Exercise Program for People With Knee Osteoarthritis: Exploratory Analysis of a Randomized Controlled Trial

Baseline patient characteristics that affect how a patient responds to treatment are called moderators [12]. A better understanding of potential moderators of the effects of exercise in knee OA will enable the identification of subgroups of people who respond more or less favorably to exercise treatments. This will facilitate the targeting of exercise treatments in knee OA and thus, may improve the effects of exercise on patient outcomes.

Moderators of Effects of Internet-Delivered Exercise and Pain Coping Skills Training for People With Knee Osteoarthritis: Exploratory Analysis of the IMPACT Randomized Controlled Trial

Moderators of Effects of Internet-Delivered Exercise and Pain Coping Skills Training for People With Knee Osteoarthritis: Exploratory Analysis of the IMPACT Randomized Controlled Trial

In these analyses, baseline characteristics that interact with the treatment to influence clinical outcomes are identified as moderators [14]. As such, the aim of moderation analysis is to determine whether groups of people with different characteristics respond differently to the treatment.
