Parent Perceptions of Telemedicine for Acute Pediatric Respiratory Tract Infections: Sequential Mixed Methods Study

Parent Perceptions of Telemedicine for Acute Pediatric Respiratory Tract Infections: Sequential Mixed Methods Study

One common reason for problem-based visits among children is the cluster of diagnoses known as acute respiratory tract infections (ARTIs), which include viral (eg, viral upper respiratory infection and viral pharyngitis) and bacterial infections (eg, streptococcal pharyngitis and acute otitis media). Before the pandemic, ARTIs accounted for over one-third of acute pediatric primary care visits and nearly 50% of DTC telemedicine visits [4,11].

An Automated Literature Review Tool (LiteRev) for Streamlining and Accelerating Research Using Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning: Descriptive Performance Evaluation Study

An Automated Literature Review Tool (LiteRev) for Streamlining and Accelerating Research Using Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning: Descriptive Performance Evaluation Study

To assess the performance of Lite Rev, we conducted a manual LR on the burden and care for acute and early HIV infection (AEHI) in sub-Saharan Africa using one open-access database, Pub Med, and 2 subscription-based databases, Embase and Web of Science. AEHI contributes to continuous HIV transmission despite global achievements in HIV control [12,13].

Public Health Risks, Dermatological Manifestations, and Environmental Justice Associated With Vinyl Chloride Exposure: Narrative Review

Public Health Risks, Dermatological Manifestations, and Environmental Justice Associated With Vinyl Chloride Exposure: Narrative Review

The liver is identified as a major target organ; however, acute exposure–related illness along with chronic carcinogenic, immunologic, and neurologic effects are also widely characterized [2]. Acute exposure via inhalation causes respiratory irritation, headache, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, fatigue, weakness, and confusion. In high concentrations, exposure leads to nervous system depression, arrhythmias, coma, and death [2].

Interrater Agreement on National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale Between Paramedics and Stroke Physicians: Validation Study for the Digital Training Model in the Paramedic Norwegian Acute Stroke Prehospital Project

Interrater Agreement on National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale Between Paramedics and Stroke Physicians: Validation Study for the Digital Training Model in the Paramedic Norwegian Acute Stroke Prehospital Project

The correct and timely triage of patients with acute stroke to the right level of care is largely based on the prehospital assessment [1,2]. Prehospital stroke symptom identification and the prenotification of in-hospital stroke teams are known to affect time to acute treatment [3,4]. Prenotification communication with the receiving facility is important as it prepares the stroke team on the patient’s condition and secures the efficient in-hospital reception of the patient [2,4].

Clinical Outcomes After a Digital Musculoskeletal Program for Acute and Subacute Pain: Observational, Longitudinal Study With Comparison Group

Clinical Outcomes After a Digital Musculoskeletal Program for Acute and Subacute Pain: Observational, Longitudinal Study With Comparison Group

We conducted an observational, prospective cohort study comparing digital MSK acute program participants (herein, intervention group) to nonparticipants at 3, 6, and 12 weeks. Employers offered the acute program to employees and adult dependents as a health benefit. Recruitment was conducted through post and email. Registration involved creating a member profile and completing an application over the internet.

Effects of Acute Exercise on Drug Craving, Self-Esteem, Mood, and Affect in Adults with Polysubstance Use Disorder: Protocol for a Multicenter Randomized Controlled Trial

Effects of Acute Exercise on Drug Craving, Self-Esteem, Mood, and Affect in Adults with Polysubstance Use Disorder: Protocol for a Multicenter Randomized Controlled Trial

Acute bouts of exercise have cognitive and mood-enhancing benefits, including improved executive functioning and lower state anxiety and stress reactivity [24,25]. The mechanisms behind the psychological benefits of exercise in SUDs are not well established, but one tenable hypothesis is that they are partly mediated by changes in the stress hormone cortisol [24]. While the effects of exercise are well documented for common mental disorders, there has been less research focus on SUDs.

The Acute Flaccid Paralysis (AFP) Surveillance System in Yemen, 2010-2015: Descriptive Study Based on Secondary Data Analysis

The Acute Flaccid Paralysis (AFP) Surveillance System in Yemen, 2010-2015: Descriptive Study Based on Secondary Data Analysis

Acute flaccid paralysis (AFP) is a clinical syndrome characterized by rapid onset of weakness, including weakness of respiratory function and swallowing, progressing to maximum severity within several days to weeks. This weakness is considered flaccid (ie, no spasticity) because the lesion affects the lower motor neuron, decreasing muscle tone and diminishing tendon reflex [4,5].

Using Social Media to Uncover Treatment Experiences and Decisions in Patients With Acute Myeloid Leukemia or Myelodysplastic Syndrome Who Are Ineligible for Intensive Chemotherapy: Patient-Centric Qualitative Data Analysis

Using Social Media to Uncover Treatment Experiences and Decisions in Patients With Acute Myeloid Leukemia or Myelodysplastic Syndrome Who Are Ineligible for Intensive Chemotherapy: Patient-Centric Qualitative Data Analysis

MDS can be rapidly progressive and is associated with a risk of evolution into acute myeloid leukemia (AML) [2]. AML, an orphan disease, is an aggressive cancer of the blood, consisting of a group of relatively well-defined hematopoietic neoplasms [1]. The disease begins as abnormal blood cells that are produced in the bone marrow and can spread throughout the circulatory system and beyond if not diagnosed and treated quickly [3].
