However, telemedicine services in Arctic and extreme weather conditions have seen large fluctuations depicting the challenges imposed by bad weather, absence of communication networks, and absence of Arctic-enhanced telemedicine equipment in this region. Various means of communication (networks) can be used for the implementation of telemedicine services.

There has been a 70% rise in motor insurance injury claims over the 6 years leading up to 2012 in the United Kingdom, despite a 23% drop in the number of casualties actually caused by road accidents—and whiplash accounted for 70% of the total. That amounted to roughly 554,000 whiplash claims from 2010-11, that is more than 1500 claims a day. The whiplash injury costs in the United Kingdom are approximately 4.6 billion euro per annum [77].

Dementia and Traffic Accidents: A Danish Register-Based Cohort Study

Hence, leading society to a growing concern regarding road traffic-related accidents risk among those suffering from dementia in the coming years. The Statistics Denmark (DST) reported a total of 3375 road traffic-related accidents, including 182 fatal accidents occurring in 2014. Of those accidents, 15% of total and 32% of fatal accidents occurring among people aged 65 or older [12]. Dementia-related accidents within this group of people have never been well reported in Denmark.
