Impact of the Kidney Score Platform on Communication About and Patients’ Engagement With Chronic Kidney Disease Health: Pre–Post Intervention Study

Impact of the Kidney Score Platform on Communication About and Patients’ Engagement With Chronic Kidney Disease Health: Pre–Post Intervention Study

Existing education programs, awareness campaigns, and clinical practice guidelines have minimally improved CKD awareness in the US population [15,16]. One reason may be because interventions have targeted either the patient or the provider, but rarely both at the same time.

Centering Youth Voice in the Adaptation of an mHealth Intervention for Young Adults With HIV in South Texas, United States: Human-Centered Design Approach

Centering Youth Voice in the Adaptation of an mHealth Intervention for Young Adults With HIV in South Texas, United States: Human-Centered Design Approach

In 2016, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) began using phylogenetic analysis to identify geographic areas where HIV transmission and new diagnoses were more likely. The first iteration of this analysis identified several clusters of new diagnoses in Texas, the largest of which was in South Texas, where 78% of the individuals newly diagnosed were under 30 years old. The majority were also uninsured, without access to HIV prevention services, and Hispanic or Latino [20,21].

Patient Factors Associated With the Use of Online Portal Health Information in the Postpandemic Era: Cross-Sectional Analysis of a National Survey

Patient Factors Associated With the Use of Online Portal Health Information in the Postpandemic Era: Cross-Sectional Analysis of a National Survey

A total of 33.1% (77,726,009/234,878,511) were college graduates or higher, and 63.1% (142,029,743/225,019,936) of the sample indicated an annual household income of greater than US $50,000. A large percentage of participants resided in metropolitan regions (215,234,746/245,721,106, 87.6%), compared with rural areas. The baseline characteristics of participants are shown in Table 1.

Automatic Human Embryo Volume Measurement in First Trimester Ultrasound From the Rotterdam Periconception Cohort: Quantitative and Qualitative Evaluation of Artificial Intelligence

Automatic Human Embryo Volume Measurement in First Trimester Ultrasound From the Rotterdam Periconception Cohort: Quantitative and Qualitative Evaluation of Artificial Intelligence

Qualitatively, expert raters visually evaluated the segmentations using a newly developed protocol, which also enabled us to estimate the time-saving potential of the AI approach. This dual evaluation highlights the novelty of our work, offering insights into the reliability and efficiency of AI-based segmentation in clinical workflows. The data used for this study was collected within the Rotterdam Periconception Cohort (Predict Study).

Virtual Reality Interventions and Chronic Pain: Scoping Review

Virtual Reality Interventions and Chronic Pain: Scoping Review

Chronic pain affects 50 million US adults [1], and treatments have limited long-term efficacy, significant side effects, or limited accessibility [2-5]. As a result of the continuing opioid overdose crisis, numerous clinical and research guidelines have recommended further study of nonpharmacological options [6-8]. Virtual reality (VR) treatments have the potential to immerse participants within a virtual environment to confer health benefits to users.

Integrating Infant Safe Sleep and Breastfeeding Education Into an App in a Novel Approach to Reaching High-Risk Populations: Prospective Observational Study

Integrating Infant Safe Sleep and Breastfeeding Education Into an App in a Novel Approach to Reaching High-Risk Populations: Prospective Observational Study

Sudden unexpected infant death (SUID) is a leading cause of death among US infants, with nonrecommended sleep practices reported in most of these deaths [1]. After a major decrease in the SUID rate immediately after the American Academy of Pediatrics released its 1992 recommendation that infants be placed on their backs to sleep, the rate has plateaued despite extensive educational efforts [2,3].

From Doubt to Confidence—Overcoming Fraudulent Submissions by Bots and Other Takers of a Web-Based Survey

From Doubt to Confidence—Overcoming Fraudulent Submissions by Bots and Other Takers of a Web-Based Survey

After implementing risk mitigation strategies, participants in waves 1-5 received Amazon gift codes worth US $10-$30, with the amount varying based on the survey wave, whether it was a baseline or follow-up survey, and the subset of questions completed. The VAPER Study recruited adults aged 21 years and older who used e-cigarettes at least 5 days per week. This was a lower prevalence population, with 2.3% of US adults using e-cigarettes daily and 5.1% of adults using in the past 30 days in 2020 [15].

Improving Affordability in Dermatology: Cost Savings in Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Company Versus GoodRx

Improving Affordability in Dermatology: Cost Savings in Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Company Versus GoodRx

Cost Plus offers medications for a 15% markup and a US $5 pharmacy fee, allowing for significant cost savings [5]. Studies have found that pharmacy coupon websites can lead to significant savings for patients within dermatology, with Good Rx providing some of the highest rates of saving [6]. However, while Good Rx is often used, medication costs can vary significantly depending on the pharmacy.
