Similarly, Krukowski et al [19] found that early dietary and physical activity self-monitoring is a predictor of weight loss success. In a study by Unick et al [20], weight change at 2 months was predictive of weight change 8 years later. Early identification of participants who are not self-monitoring and who may be at most risk of not losing weight gives clinicians and researchers the opportunity to target those falling behind with additional resources.
