Chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection is a leading cause of liver disease and liver-related mortality in the United States. Approximately 2.4 million persons in the United States were living with chronic hepatitis C during 2013-2016 [1,2]. These patients are at increased risk of progression to liver fibrosis, cirrhosis, liver failure, hepatocellular carcinoma, and death [3].

Vaccine hesitancy has been defined as a “delay in acceptance or refusal of vaccination despite the availability of vaccination services” and is recognized among the 10 major public health threats by the World Health Organization (WHO) [1]. A recent review of the literature showed that vaccine hesitancy has become 1 of the key research topics [2].
