Interviewers enter the participants’ responses and rapid diagnostic test results in the Comm Care mobile-Web electronic assessment and case management system that is cloud based and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) compliant, by Dimagi Inc (see Comulada et al for details [44]). Comm Care also manages and sends intervention and assessment text messages as part of the automated text-messaging and monitoring intervention (AMM).

Following the baseline assessment, participants were assigned Samsung Vibrant smartphones running on the Android operating system version 2.2 or higher. For 6 months, participants received daily time-based prompts on their mobile phones to complete EMA 3 times daily and an end-of-day assessment (daily diary) through a mobile app.
