This may be outside of the domain of any religion; spiritual fulfillment within persons is achieved through practices such as meditation, associating with nature, and building a personal relationship with a higher power [18-21]. Simultaneously, “faith” is often described as a philosophical concept. Studies show that faith is a nonstatic concept and often means a belief pattern that provides meaning to them. Through faith, individuals try to gain an appreciation of their world and circumstances [22].

Demographics and Social Factors Associated With Persistent Nonuse of Video Appointments at a Multisite Health Care Institution: Cross-Sectional Study

This study used a cross-sectional design with data collected from a 1-time survey administered to Mayo Clinic and MCHS patients. The survey was designed using results from a prior qualitative study detailed elsewhere [14]. Guided by the qualitative results and informed by a scoping literature review, the survey items were developed to address existing gaps in the literature. The finalized paper survey was pretested with study staff with an estimated 10-15 minutes to complete.

The Role of Social Media in Enhancing Clinical Trial Recruitment: Scoping Review

We performed a comprehensive search in July 2019 using the following databases: Pub Med; MEDLINE, EMBASE, and Psyc Info via Ovid; Cochrane Library via Wiley; Scopus; and Web of Science Core Collection. A combination of natural language and controlled vocabulary was employed in accordance with Methodological Expectations of Cochrane Intervention Reviews guidelines [19]. A complete search strategy is available in Multimedia Appendix 2.

A Systematic Framework for Analyzing Patient-Generated Narrative Data: Protocol for a Content Analysis

It identifies themes in data systematically, where each theme represents a semantic topic. More specifically, the framework method builds a matrix structure with each piece of narrative data (eg, a patient post or a sentence) stored in a row and each identified theme in a column. Using this structure, researchers can cluster narrative data around identified themes and identify the relationships between themes (see Figure 1).

Once consent was obtained by study staff, participants observed the demonstration in a group setting in a private room with 7-10 other adolescents. The demonstration consisted of a 3-5-minute session during which a study team member played the role of the exercise coach. The coach followed a script, included in Textbox 1 below, adapted from a prior study that assessed the acceptability of a robotic human trainer among diverse adults [22].

The authors of “Technological Innovations in Disease Management: Text Mining US Patent Data From 1995 to 2017” (J Med Internet Res 2019;21(4):e13316) have provided a new version of Multimedia Appendix 3. The originally published version of Multimedia Appendix 3 contained raw treatment costs of diseases as disease burden in Table S6 that were calculated with claims data from Optum Labs. The sharing of raw data violates the data policy of Optum Labs, so those raw numbers have been removed.

A comprehensive survey paper is available to gain a better understanding of the structure of patent documents and the methods for patent document retrieval, classification, and visualization [6]. Existing patent mining in biomedicine mostly focuses on recognizing biomedical entities such as chemical compounds, genes, proteins, cells, tissues, and anatomical parts [7]. For example, Leman et al developed a system of named entity recognition to identify chemical names mentioned in the patents [8].
