Expectant Parents’ Preferences for Teaching by Texting: Development and Usability Study of SmartMom

Different from Munro et al [32], participants in this study were pregnant or recently pregnant during the COVID-19 pandemic, which led to a dramatic shift away from in-person prenatal appointments. Participants spoke about the necessity of having reliable information about pregnancy given the abundance of information available on web-based platforms. They also spoke about the value of social media in pregnancy, which may reflect changes in the use of social media since 2017.
