This included the following measures: number of chapters completed per child and per parent, total therapists’ time per child and per parent, individual therapist’s telephone time with participants, the volume of written communication (total number of characters) submitted by child and parent via the web-based system, total number of log-ins for child and parent, average time between each log-in (in days) for child and parent, and average pages visited per log-in for child and parent.

Therapist-Supported Online Interventions for Children and Young People With Tic Disorders: Lessons Learned From a Randomized Controlled Trial and Considerations for Future Practice

Therapists aimed to have approximately 10-20 minutes of contact per week with each dyad of child and supporter; this time was logged (by the platform) to measure the amount of support patients were needing and would help the therapists devote comparable time to each patient. This amount of contact is significantly less than might be expected in face-to-face behavioral therapy for tics (manualized as 1 hour per week for 10-12 weeks).

A post hoc item-per-item analysis of the ii PAS-mid items regarding the symptom severity change score revealed a significant correlation with 2 of the 5 items, item 2 (“engagement with exercises”; r=0.21, P=.01), and item 4 (“motivation for change”; r=0.19, P=.02).
