Cross-Tailoring Integrative Alcohol and Risky Sexual Behavior Feedback for College Students: Protocol for a Hybrid Type 1 Effectiveness-Implementation Trial

Cross-Tailoring Integrative Alcohol and Risky Sexual Behavior Feedback for College Students: Protocol for a Hybrid Type 1 Effectiveness-Implementation Trial

National data show two-thirds of college students are current drinkers, 1 in 3 reports past-month heavy-episodic drinking (more than 5 drinks in a row), and 1 in 10 reports high-intensity drinking (more than 10 drinks in a row) [1]. Greater college student alcohol consumption and heavy drinking on a given day are linked to increased sexual activity and risky sexual behavior (RSB; eg, unprotected sex and unplanned hookups) [4-9].

Furthermore, most PBIs are presented in a static manual form [15,26,27]. We are unaware of any study to date that has developed and tested a PBI about alcohol use and the role of social media in adolescent alcohol use. As such, we will add to the literature by developing and refining a web-based PBI designed to reduce both high-risk social media cognitions and alcohol use among adolescents.

Investigating Why and How Young Adults Use Protective Behavioral Strategies for Alcohol and Marijuana Use: Protocol for Developing a Randomized Controlled Trial

It may be that friends have high a use of or encourage the use of serious harm reduction strategies as a means of drinking more heavily, which suggests that friends’ PBS use may be a barrier to using serious harm reduction PBS to reduce one’s own use or consequences.
