Patient Engagement in a Multimodal Digital Phenotyping Study of Opioid Use Disorder

Patient Engagement in a Multimodal Digital Phenotyping Study of Opioid Use Disorder

Briefly, this observational study collected multiple streams of digital data over a 12-week study period—EMA data from a smartphone app, passive sensor data through a smartphone and a smartwatch, and social media data from participants’ social media accounts. Questionnaires, electronic health record (EHR) data, and claims data were also collected.

Relative Effectiveness of Social Media, Dating Apps, and Information Search Sites in Promoting HIV Self-testing: Observational Cohort Study

For each substance, a score of 1 was classified as “problem use” (low-risk substance use), whereas a score of 2 or higher was classified as “high-risk substance use.” We collected participants’ opinions about HIV treatment using a 10-item questionnaire [27]. Each question was presented as a visual analog scale (eg, slider) with “strongly disagree” and “strongly agree” anchoring the 2 extremes.

Momentary Self-regulation: Scale Development and Preliminary Validation

Momentary Self-regulation: Scale Development and Preliminary Validation

A methodologically and psychometrically sound metric that precisely and sensitively captures malleable processes involved in self-regulation in a real-world setting may enable a more contextually informed understanding of self-regulatory processes.

Scale-up of Digital Innovations in Health Care: Expert Commentary on Enablers and Barriers

Scale-up of Digital Innovations in Health Care: Expert Commentary on Enablers and Barriers

To also consider a practical perspective, experts of digital health services gathered at a workshop. The results of the workshop combined practice- and research-based perspectives, which were matched with theoretical insights in this paper. Therefore, this paper goes one step further toward proposing a solution for the issue of scaling up digital health innovations by identifying and discussing barriers and enablers from a holistic point of view.

Workshop on Implementation Science and Digital Therapeutics for Behavioral Health

Workshop on Implementation Science and Digital Therapeutics for Behavioral Health

The research-to-practice gap is a significant challenge to the health care field, and translation of evidence-based practices for substance use and mental health conditions is no exception [1-3]. Recent data indicate only 11% of people in the United States with a substance use condition received treatment, and fewer than half (43%) of adults with a mental health condition received treatment [4].

Workshop on the Development and Evaluation of Digital Therapeutics for Health Behavior Change: Science, Methods, and Projects

Workshop on the Development and Evaluation of Digital Therapeutics for Health Behavior Change: Science, Methods, and Projects

Self-regulation, a person’s ability to manage cognitive, motivational, and emotional resources to act in accordance with his or her long-term goals, was introduced as an important causal mechanism of health behavior, and deficient self-regulation was proposed as a key target for interventions addressing health risk behavior in chronic diseases.
