How do eHealth Programs for Adolescents With Depression Work? A Realist Review of Persuasive System Design Components in Internet-Based Psychological Therapies

Bennett and Glasgow have argued that the most critical design gap in the current generation of Internet-based programs is the underuse of Web 2.0 features (eg, social media, user-generated content, collaborative consumption) [89]. In our review, many therapies were adapted from face-to-face or manualized programs. This may have resulted in a “replication” of components that were originally designed for face-to-face interactions rather than fully optimizing Web 2.0 features available for delivery.
