In their seminal work published in Nature Medicine, Yang et al [4] introduced the concept of a “Digital Mask” (DM) designed to protect patient privacy while preserving disease-relevant features critical for diagnosis. While this innovation represents a significant step forward in privacy preservation, Meeus et al [5] subsequently raised concerns about the reidentification risks associated with the DM.
