Co-Designing Priority Components of an mHealth Intervention to Enhance Follow-Up Care in Young Adult Survivors of Childhood Cancer and Health Care Providers: Qualitative Descriptive Study

Most survivors (19/22, 86%) identified as White. Survivors came from 6 provinces, most prevalently from Alberta (10/22, 46%), Ontario (5/22, 23%), and Nova Scotia (4/22, 18%). Most survivors (18/22, 82%) lived in an urban geographical region. Survivors reported a history of leukemias (11/22, 50%), lymphomas (6/22, 27%), and solid tumors (5/22, 23%) as the most common diagnoses. The average age at diagnosis was 10.59 (SD 5.45) years, and the mean time off treatment was 17.45 (SD 6.81) years.

Suresh et al [27] analyzed the content of You Tube videos on anorexia nervosa. Most videos provided information on symptoms, treatment, rehabilitation, and etiology, while 42% featured personal accounts from patients.

Most indicated they were female (66%, 42/64), non-Hispanic (94%, 60/64), White (58%, 37/64), and in good or better health (64%, 41/64). A total of 16% (10/64) were classified as having mild or moderate depression, and 38% (24/64) as having low patient activation.

In a study of California firefighters, cancers of the tongue, testis, and bladder; non-Hodgkin lymphoma; chronic lymphocytic leukemia; and chronic myelogenous leukemia were significantly elevated among understudied firefighter groups, predominantly Hispanic or Black (but not non-Hispanic White) firefighters compared to the general population [3].
