This matches or exceeds response rates for the return of STI self-samples reported in other recent research, such as in the sexual health trial by Nicholas and colleagues [36] reporting 47.4% return by 16- to 20-year-olds at 3 months, the sexual health trial by Free and colleagues [37] reporting 74.8% return at 12 months by 16- to 24-year-olds, and a longitudinal study by van Wees and colleagues [33] reporting 75.7% return at 6 months by 18- to 24-year-olds.
